The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops is accepting online applications year-round from Western New York restaurants, food trucks and wineries interested in participating in Buffalo's premier summertime food festival. The deadline to apply for the 2014 festival is Jan. 31. The nation's largest two-day food festival is set for July 12 and 13, along Delaware Avenue and Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo.

To be eligible, restaurants and wineries must be public establishments whose primary commercial function is to serve food/wine on a retail basis and be open year-round in Western New York. Wineries from the Finger Lakes wine region are also eligible to apply. Food truck applicants must adhere to the same menu item criteria as brick and mortar restaurants. Applications and additional criteria to be eligible for participation can be found at www.tasteofbuffalo.com under the "restaurants and wineries" tab.

"We encourage our local restaurants, food trucks and wineries to apply. We'd love nothing more than to showcase the delicious foods our city's fantastic restaurants have to offer to our thousands of guests," said Ann Hackett, chair of 2014 Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops.

The 31st annual Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops is expected to attract more than 400,000 people to downtown Buffalo.

The Taste is a not-for-profit organization with more than 1,000 volunteers helping to put on the annual event. More than $250,000 has been raised at the festival for local charities, in addition to five $1,000 scholarships presented annually to local high school seniors pursuing a culinary or hospitality-related degree. For more information, visit the Taste online, on Facebook or on Twitter.
