2013-14 winter waterfowl drawings for state parks set

Beaver Island State Park, West River Parkway, Motor and Strawberry islands

The remaining waterfowl hunting season (Dec. 28-Jan. 13), which includes duck and goose, will be done by lottery in the basement of the Beaver Island Clubhouse. Doors will open at 5 a.m. The draw will begin at 5:30 a.m. sharp each day of the hunt.

A boat is required to be on site, "at the ready," for use in retrieving or rescue, as necessary. To participate in the lottery drawings, hunters must present a valid New York state small game hunting license with a signed duck stamp, proof of registration in the Harvest Information Program, and proof of completion of a waterfowl ID course. Those interested may contact the Beaver Island State Park Office at 716-773-3271 on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. for more information.

Fort Niagara, Joseph Davis, Wilson-Tuscarora and Golden Hill state parks

For the parks listed above, drawings will be held at the Fort Niagara State Park maintenance building with doors opening at 5 p.m. The drawing begins at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 26, Jan. 2 and 8.

To be eligible to participate in the lottery drawing, hunters must have a current New York state small game license, a federal migratory bird stamp, a Harvest Information Program number, and must have successfully completed the New York State Waterfowl Identification Course.
