Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. again delayed an expected court date for Town of Niagara Supervisor Steve Richards this week.

Richards' attorney Rodney Personius said the judge requested more time to review the paperwork so he would be better equipped to handle oral arguments. A previous date of Dec. 4 also was delayed.

A new date was set for early January. If the matter proceeds to a full trial, it is expected to be held in April.

After a grand jury investigation, Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman and Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced the arrest of Richards for allegedly taking town property and using town employees and equipment for personal gain since 2001.

Richards has denied the claims, calling them politically motivated, but has been advised by his lawyer not to speak publicly on the matter at this time.
