Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue will hold its monthly volunteer meeting this Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston. The meeting is a holiday gathering and the main discussion topic will be the upcoming second annual "Heart to Heart" fundraising event set for February 2014.

The meeting is open to the public and everyone is welcome. Those able are asked to bring their favorite holiday cookies or treats to share. Hot chocolate will be provided.

Heart of Niagara is a not-for-profit companion animal rescue organization based in Niagara County. Its mission is to protect the health and welfare of abandoned, unwanted and homeless animals. HON has adopted out more 100 animals to date - more than double the annual projection - while operating solely on donations and the generosity and support of the public.

New volunteers are always welcome. Visit HON at www.heartofniagara.org and "Like" the group on Facebook at Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue Inc. Readers may also call HON's main number at 716-345-7129, or Linda van Harssel at 716-622-1213 for more information on the meeting, events or fundraising.
