A longtime Western New York banking industry leader and a beloved local physician will be honored by Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center at The 2014 Premier.

The event will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel, 310 Fourth St., Niagara Falls.

Nancy Gara's name is synonymous with The Premier. The respected community leader and longtime Memorial Medical Center supporter penned the name of the annual black-tie gala and, with her husband Sam, co-chaired its debut in 2004. In the years since, she served on the planning committee for every Premier, including the 2014 event.

A former vice president and manager of the Power City Office of First Niagara Bank and a two-time recipient of HSBC's Manager of the Year Award, Gara served on Memorial's board of directors and chaired the Medical Center Foundation's successful Schoellkopf Park Revitalization Campaign. She was a board member of the Sisters Hospital Foundation and Riverdale Cemetery Association, the Niagara University advisory board and Niagara Falls Water Authority and was named a 2011 Niagara Gazette Woman of Distinction.

Nancy, who died May 28, will be honored posthumously.

Sujatha Addagatla, M.D., the founder and owner of Niagara Nephrology, P.C., has practiced medicine in Niagara for the past 15 years. Better known to her many patients as Dr. Sujatha, she is a graduate of the University of South Florida and the Nagarjuna University's Gunter Medical College in India. Sujatha completed her residency and fellowship in internal medicine at the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She is board certified in nephrology and internal medicine.

Chairpersons for The 2014 Premier are Lucy Muto, Dominick Muto and Renee Taefi Baughman, M.D. Proceeds from the event will benefit Memorial's Cardiac/Stroke Care Center campaign.
