Everyone's favorite nanny is flying into town next summer. Artpark has announced its production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's "Mary Poppins" is slated for July 31- Aug. 8, 2014. Eight performances will take place in the Mainstage Theater.
Winner of 44 major theater awards from around the globe, "Mary Poppins" has captivated audiences for generations with its irresistible story, unforgettable songs, breathtaking dance numbers and astonishing stagecraft.
Artpark's production of the timeless classic will be directed by MusicalFare's Randall Kramer, and stars audience favorite Emilie Renier as Mary Poppins. Renier dazzled Artpark audiences as Maria in this year's production of "The Sound of Music," and as the star of "Cinderella" in 2011. Lynne Kurdziel Formato will choreograph the production. Jason Bravo will return as music director.
Jack-of-all trades Bert introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael Banks have sent many a nanny packing before the mysterious Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again.
Mary Poppins takes both children and adults alike on many magical and memorable adventures, discovering a world where "anything can happen if you let it." This production features beloved songs from the film, including "A Spoon Full of Sugar," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," "Chim Chim Cher-ee," "Jolly Holiday," and new favorites such as "Practically Perfect" and "Anything Can Happen."
