The agency previously known as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Niagara County will continue to provide the same services under a new name, Youth Mentoring Services of Niagara County Inc. Youth Mentoring Services is a prevention program that enables in-risk children and youth to achieve their full potential as adults by providing a variety of mentoring services.

The agency's board of directors, after great thought and diligence, voted to withdraw its affiliation with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. YMS will continue serving everyone already enrolled in the program, and will continue offering its services to in-risk children and youth ages 7-15 in Niagara County with no dues or fees for service.

Current casework staff Heather Cahill (program director) and Erin Weber (mentoring supervisor) will continue to professionally manage casework. Annemarie C. Bettino, M.S., will remain as CEO, administering all youth mentoring initiatives. Many of the same policies, procedures and protocols will remain in place as YMS continues forth from a strong 40-year legacy of advocating for in-risk children and youth in a mentoring environment.

YMS will continue to provide topic-relevant and age-appropriate developmental in-services, summer camperships, site-based mentoring at the Niagara Falls Boys & Girls Club, school-based mentoring at Maple Avenue Elementary in Niagara Falls through a collaboration with Niagara Falls Boys & Girls Club, traditional mentor/mentee match friendships, and various other youth initiatives. Youth Mentoring Services annual activities and events, including the annual charity golf tournament, will continue to be held.

If you would like to volunteer as a mentor, enroll a child as a mentee, or if you have any questions, call 716-434-1855 or 716-285-6680, or email [email protected].
