The Wound Center of Niagara, the area's first comprehensive wound care facility, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7.

The center is located at 620 10th St., Suite 700 - directly across the street from Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center - and was developed by Memorial and RestorixHealth, one of the nation's leaders in comprehensive wound care and wound management programs.

Wound centers specialize in treating chronic or problem wounds, typically those that fail to respond to conventional treatment within 30 days. They are often associated with medical conditions such as diabetes, poor circulation and certain types of infection.

The Wound Center of Niagara provides comprehensive wound treatment, including the use of hyperbaric oxygen chambers to provide pressurized oxygen that stimulates tissues and helps wounds heal more quickly.

Its multidisciplinary team of physicians specializes in the underlying conditions that can cause problem wounds. Those physician specialties include vascular, cardiothoracic and general surgery, internal medicine, infectious disease and podiatry.

The center is accepting new patients. For information or to schedule an appointment, call 716-278-4424.
