Written comments will be accepted through Dec. 4; public meeting and hearing in Albany scheduled for Oct. 30
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has extended the public comment period on proposed regulations (6 NYCRR Part 570) to set criteria for the construction and operation of new liquefied natural gas facilities under DEC permits, Commissioner Joe Martens announced. The proposed regulation would require permits for facilities that store LNG or convert it back to a gas.
All comments will be carefully considered as DEC proceeds with the rulemaking process.
At the conclusion of the public comment period, DEC staff will review all comments received and may make changes to address comments as deemed appropriate.
Information about the proposed rule is posted on DEC's website. The comment period runs through Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. A public meeting was held in Syracuse Oct. 16, and a public meeting and public hearing will be held in Albany Oct. 30.
