On Saturday, Nov. 2, Old Fort Niagara will offer culinary buffs a rare chance to prepare an elaborate period meal in an 18th century kitchen. The four-hour workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the boulangerie of the French Castle.
Participants will learn about menu choices and food preparation techniques that were popular in England, France and America in the 18th century, and then prepare a period meal over an open fire. To conclude the program, participants will dine on the savory dishes they have prepared.
Cost is $30 per person or $20 for members of the Old Fort Niagara Association. The registration fee includes cost of all materials and food. To reserve a spot, call the fort at 716-745-7611.
Old Fort Niagara is located in Youngstown, 14 miles north of Niagara Falls via the Robert Moses Parkway North.
