Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, said he is disappointed in the decision made by New York State Education Commissioner John King to cancel a series of forums for public comment on common core standards. Ceretto wants public officials, school districts, teachers and parents to work together through this process.

"The implementation of Common Core Standards has left parents and teachers with a lot of questions that must be addressed. Unfortunately, canceling these important forums is education without representation," he said. "These forums should be rescheduled so that the people most involved with our children's education can offer their ideas about what we can do better."

Since the implementation of common core in New York, numerous concerns have been raised and problems with the implementation have been pointed out.

In response to the cancellation of these forums, Ceretto is planning a forum in the Niagara Falls area to ensure opinions are heard. Further information will be released when details are finalized.
