Lewiston Library October events

The Lewiston Public Library, 305 S. Eighth St., announces the following for October:

Horror Film Festival

•"The Haunting in Connecticut" (2009) opens the library's Horror Film Festival on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. Haunted houses will be the theme on the library's first horror movie night. Hosted by members of NF Paranormal, learn what to do if your house is haunted.

•"Psycho" (1960) will air on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. Psychos and serial killers will be the theme. Hosted by a local law enforcement member, learn about the mind of the killer.

•"Shaun of the Dead" (2004) will be on screen on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m. Zombies will be the theme. Hosted by Matt Lord, local horror film director, library visitors are invited to meet some "real" movie zombies.

•"Blair Witch Project" (1999) airs Sunday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. Hosted by "Witch Hazel," witches are the theme for the library's final horror movie night.

Additionally

•Friends of the Library will meet Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m., and the library board of trustees meets Monday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m.

•Painting with Val Teal, for children of all ages, meets Saturdays, Oct. 5, 12 and 19, at 11 a.m. Teal will introduce painting techniques using tempera paints.

•Tail Waggin' Tutors, a reading program for ages 5 and up, begins. The library will hold an open house Saturday, Oct. 5, at 1:30 p.m.
