Mount St. Mary's Hospital plans for 6th annual 'Conference on Healthcare for Women'

Mount St. Mary's Hospital will host the sixth annual "Conference on Healthcare for Women - Healthy Inside and Out" to raise awareness among women in the local community on a wide array of issues and actions that can help improve their health. This year's daylong conference is Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls.

The event offers speakers, demonstrations and information displays, a luncheon and breakout sessions. Registration is $15 for the entire conference. Advance registration is encouraged, as space is limited to the first 350 attendees. Area residents Kate Cumbo and Tanya Miller are co-chairs of the conference.

The entire program is sponsored by the Center for Women at Mount St. Mary's Hospital with support from Cancer Care of Western New York and Western New York Urology Associates, Precision Health Care and the Center for Wound Healing at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Niagara Dermatology Associates, Phillips Lytle LLP, Medtronic, the Niagara Falls Police Department and DiMino Tops Lewiston.

The day opens at 8 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast. At 9 a.m. the conference will begin with remarks by Mount St. Mary's President and CEO Judith Maness. Robbie Raugh, RN, a board-certified holistic health and nutrition practitioner and certified fitness expert, will be the guest speaker. Tammie Lee Demler, host of "WNY Tonight," will serve as mistress of ceremonies.

Participants will be offered a variety of informational displays and live demonstrations, provided by/including:

•Exercise: yoga/meditation - Laura Vendryes

•Makeup and Hair - Hair Chateau - Tammy L. Bundrock and Jessica Rodriquez

•Foot checks - Dr. Jude Violante, podiatrist

•Childcare safety seats - Niagara Falls Police Department

•Floral designs - RD Woodykins Creations - Diane Woodcock

•Jewelry - small indulgences - Mary Ann Culbert

•Holistic health - Ami Patrick - Embody Health & Wellness

•Positive discipline - Joyce Barnwell

•Acupuncture - Destin Radder, licensed acupuncturist

•Niagara County Community College Culinary Institute cooking demonstration (p.m. only)

• Blood pressure screenings

Educational informational sessions will include:

•Pelvic health with Dr. Abeer Edibb, OB/GYN; WNY Urology Associates

•"Empowering Yourself and Your Health" with Raugh

•"Free Yourself from a Constipated Life" with Cathi Stack, ND, CNM, of Journey II Health

•"Heart Health for Life" with Dr. Zina Hajduczok (cardiologist) and Marylou Scholl (NP, Mount St. Mary's Heart Associates)

•"Challenges of Menopause" with Dr. Sharmilee Thota, OB/GYN (Center for Women), and Dr. Rachel Weselak, OB/GYN (Center for Women)

•"Managing & Understanding Nutraceuticals (Nutritional Supplements)" with Andrea Rosati, NP, Center for Women

•"Prevention & Treatment of Gynecological Cancer" with Dr. Faraj Touchan, OB/GYN (Center for Women), and Dr. Pankaj Singhal, UBMD, gynecologic oncology

A lunch at noon will feature a panel of health care experts taking questions from the audience. Following a repeat of the demonstrations and presentations in the afternoon, the conference will conclude at 2:15 pm.
