Niagara Hospice families, volunteers and staff will celebrate a special "Day of Remembrance" at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6. The event will be held in memory of Niagara county residents who have passed while under the care of Niagara Hospice from July 1 through Dec. 31, 2012.

"The 'Day of Remembrance' gives families an opportunity to share in memorial support with the hospice care family," said spiritual care director the Rev. John A. Marshall, M. Div. "Each 'Day of Remembrance' service is especially meaningful as we reflect on the people who have touched our lives in many different ways."

Held annually since 1989, the non-denominational service will offer a time of remembrance through reflection, music and companionship as the names of Niagara Hospice patients who have died during that period are read. The service will be held at Lockport Senior High School.

Invitations to family caregivers were mailed in early September. The deadline to respond has been extended to Wednesday, Sept. 25. Families are asked to make reservations by calling the Niagara Hospice spiritual care department at 716-280-0768 and indicating how many family members will be in attendance.

For more information, contact the Niagara Hospice Spiritual Care Department at 280-0768.
