Victory Media ranks Niagara University among the top 20 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide that are doing the most to embrace America's military service members, veterans and spouses as students, and ensure their success on campus.

By being designated as a "Military Friendly School" for 2014 by Victory Media, the "premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life," Niagara's continuing efforts to provide high-quality educational opportunities to veterans will be nationally recognized.

A full story and detailed list of 2014 Military Friendly Schools will be highlighted in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools, distributed in print and digital format to hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel in early October.

"Inclusion on the 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools shows Niagara University's commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students," said Sean Collins, vice president at Victory Media and a nine-year Navy veteran. "The need for education is growing, and our mission is to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools."

Now in its fifth year, the list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 10,000 schools nationwide approved for VA tuition funding. The survey results that comprise the 2014 list were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media.

"As a retired Air Force veteran, I can say that I'm very proud to be part of an institution that does so much for those who have served in the military," said Robert Healy, Niagara University's veterans services coordinator. "Education is a key component of the transition from military to civilian life, and Niagara University is extremely supportive of these service men and women."

Niagara University has a long history of honoring and supporting military students, veterans and their families. The Catholic and Vincentian university supports a U.S. Army ROTC program, and participates in the Department of Veterans Affairs GI Bill Yellow Ribbon Program, a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008.

Military alumni of Niagara include two Medal of Honor recipients, Gen. William Donovan and Lt. John Bobo, and a humanitarian nominated for sainthood, Father Nelson Baker. Being in close proximity to Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station and the regional Military Entrance Processing Station, Niagara is responsive to the unique needs of military students, veterans and dependents.
