Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for Sept. 6, 2013

The Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to 147 calls from Aug. 24 to 30. Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island.

Deputies responded to 11 burglary false alarm calls and two fire alarms during the dates of this report.

Saturday, Aug. 24

•Whitehaven Road, suspicious person with vehicle - A complainant stated a vehicle was on the side of the road with its four-way flashers on and the driver appeared to be lost. Deputies located the vehicle and advised the driver.

•Woodstock Drive, welfare check - Deputies responded to a report of a 911 hang-up call. Deputies spoke to the occupants of the residence and determined the call to be a misdial.

•Love Road, fight - A complainant stated she heard what appeared to be a fight occurring in the parking lot of neighborhood business. Deputies spoke to numerous individuals on scene, all who denied any knowledge of a fight.

•Love Road, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated that a vehicle was parked on the lawn of a neighboring residence and was unsure if anyone was inside. Deputies determined the vehicle to belong to a family member of the residence in question.

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone removed a political campaign sign from his lawn. The sign did not sustain any damage and was reassembled by the complainant.

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - A complainant stated that while he was at a business someone stole a wallet from his pocket. After further investigation it was determined the items were left in the complainant's vehicle and had not been stolen.

•East River Road, fireworks use - A complainant stated that fireworks were being used at a residence in the area of Warner Drive. Deputies checked the area but did not observe any fireworks.

•Grand Island Boulevard, loud music - A complainant stated that loud music was coming from a local establishment. Deputies checked and determined the music was not violating any noise ordinance.

Sunday, Aug. 25

•Ward Park Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that she found narcotic paraphernalia in her backyard and wanted to turn it over to patrol. Deputies seized the items and disposed of them.

•Driftwood Drive, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone stole two bicycles from his yard.

•Bedell Road, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent days, someone entered the fenced-in Miracle League Field and caused minor damage by rollerblading on it.

•East River Road, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that, at an unknown time, someone damaged the windshield to his vehicle.

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - A complainant stated that while he was at a local business someone broke into his vehicle and stole various items from inside. The suspect gained entry by damaging the lock to the vehicle door.

•Grand Island Boulevard, disorderly person - Employees of a business stated that a female patron was causing a disturbance. Deputies advised the female, who left the premise without further incident.

•Lakeview Terrace, loud music - A complainant stated that a loud party was outside of his apartment building. Deputies checked and determined the complaint to be unfounded.

Monday, Aug. 26

•White Tail Run, welfare check - Deputies responded to a report of a 911 hang-up call. Deputies spoke to the occupants and determined the call to be a mistake.

•Pin Oak Circle, suspicious person - A complainant stated that a female subject was walking up and down the street in the rain and talking to herself. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the subject.

•Love Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that a vehicle damaged her mailbox and lawn and left behind the license plate. Deputies contacted the driver of the vehicle, who returned to the scene and agreed to pay for the damages.

•Baseline Road, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check of an individual who applied for a pistol permit.

Tuesday, Aug. 27

•Baseline Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Carl Road, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•Grand Island Boulevard, welfare check - Deputies responded to a report of a 911 hang-up call from a local business. Deputies spoke to the employees and determined the call to be a misdial.

•West River Parkway, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was driving all over the roadway. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

•West River Road, residential burglary - A complainant stated that, sometime during the day, someone broke into his residence by prying open a door and stole various items while inside. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Wednesday, Aug. 28

•Grand Island Boulevard, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Bedell Road, residential burglary - Deputies responded to a burglary alarm at a residence on Bedell Road and found an unlocked door. Deputies searched the residence but found no persons inside. A further check with the homeowner confirmed that someone had entered the residence and moved numerous items, but nothing was reported missing. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Stony Point Road, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent weeks, someone had stolen various items from his vehicle. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Schwegler Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that a screen window to a nearby residence was laying on the ground. Deputies checked the residence and did not observe any damage.

•Brandywine Drive, animal loose - A complainant stated she found a cockatiel bird in her yard.

•Baseline Road, suspicious person - A complainant stated that a suspicious male subject was in the roadway and appeared to be wearing a mask during the late hours of the night. Deputies located the male, who stated that he was attempting to remove a sweatshirt and became tangled in the garment.

Thursday, Aug. 29

•Carter Drive, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated that a vehicle was parked on the street in front of his residence during the late hours of the night and appeared to be occupied by several subjects. Deputies located the vehicle and advised the occupants, who stated they were talking about relationship issues.

•Enola Road, loud music - A complainant stated that loud music was coming from a nearby residence during the late hours of the night. Prior to the arrival of patrol, the complainant called back and stated the music was off and no longer required police assistance.

Friday, Aug. 30

•Bedell Road, burglary - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone broke into his business and stole a small sum of money. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Stony Point Road, found property - A complainant stated that she found a bicycle in the ditch on the property in front of her residence. Deputies took custody of the bicycle.

•Huth Road, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated that a vehicle was parked in front of his residence with its headlights on for approximately one hour. Deputies located the vehicle and advised the driver, who stated he had pulled over to make a phone call.
