Niagara's Choice Credit Union has partnered with Shred-It in sponsoring a community shredding day to securely destroy paper documents. Area residents with documents needing to be destroyed can bring them to the event from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Niagara's Choice, 3577 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda (next to Meadowbrook Plaza).

Storing unneeded documents (receipts, personal papers, etc.) at home can cause clutter and may create a security risk when disposed of improperly. If certain documents were to fall into the wrong hands, they could result in identity theft and financial loss.

This shredding event is offered free of charge. However, free-will donations will be accepted to assist the Friends & Family Support Group based at the Niagara Falls Airbase on behalf of those serving this country overseas.

In respect to serving everyone as efficiently as possible, organizers ask that residents limit shredding materials to a maximum of three medium-sized boxes or three 30-gallon trash bags.

Everyone is encouraged to review the materials they wish to shred before handing them over to the Shred-it attendant for destruction. For more information, call 716-693-5140 or 716-284-4110.
