Niagara County residents that put on their nation's uniform and served will have a chance to learn about the benefits available to them at a special veterans outreach event organized by County Legislator Chereé Copelin, R-LaSalle, and set for Thursday night.

The veterans outreach will be held at LaSalle American Legion Post 1142, 8643 Buffalo Ave., and begins at 7 p.m.

Niagara County Veterans Service Officer Earl Schmidt, who is fully accredited, will be on-hand to discuss various programs and benefits available to veterans and their families, and will assist them in applying for the benefits they have earned.

"Our veterans left their homes and stood up to be counted when it mattered," Copelin said. "The least we can do is make sure that Niagara County's veterans receive what they earned, as well as our gratitude."

Copelin also indicated she would provide refreshments for attendees. For more information, call the Niagara County Veterans Service Agency at 716-438-4090.
