On Sunday, Aug. 11, the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Co. hosted a 100th birthday party in its pavilion on Lockport Road for Elmer Moje. More than 200 people attended to honor Moje, who has been a member of the fire company for more than 60 years and reached the century mark on Aug. 20.

During the party, Moje received recognition in celebration of his 100th birthday from State Sen. George Maziarz, Assemblyman John Ceretto, Niagara County Legislator David Godfrey, Wheatfield Town Supervisor Robert Cliffe and the Firemen's Association of the State of New York.
