Assemblyman John Ceretto and State Sen. George Maziarz are working with the City of Niagara Falls, the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Board of Health, and local public officials to protect the health and safety of Niagara Falls residents in light of reports of rat infestations in certain parts of the city. While the causes of these conditions are unclear, Ceretto and Maziarz are working to uncover the reasons for this problem so that a solution can be found.
"I have talked to the people living in these rat-infested places, and they simply want this problem to be solved," Ceretto said. "While the causes are not clear at the moment, we must begin the process of finding out why this is an issue so that we can find a long-term and permanent solution.
"People will not come to Niagara Falls if we have a rodent problem, which affects our economy. We have to find out why this is happening and fix it. I am working (with) the city, the DEC and the Board of Health to find a solution and deliver the clean living environment that the people of Niagara Falls deserve."
Maziarz said, "To solve this unusual rat problem we have to determine its root cause. One thing is for sure: Niagara Falls residents should not be the ones made to suffer and endure this infestation. We will continue to try to get to the bottom of this."
Ceretto has had discussions with residents who have pointed to several possible causes for the rat infestation. He is relaying these concerns to the city, the DEC, and the Board of Health. Residents who are affected by these conditions can contact Ceretto's office at 716-282-6062 or by email at [email protected].
"If you are living in an area that is infested with rats and want your voice to be heard, please don't hesitate to contact my office," Ceretto said. "I am working on behalf of all those who are living in these unacceptable conditions. I will be your advocate and work tirelessly until this problem is solved and your neighborhoods are clean once again."
