The first-ever CROP Walk for Hunger car wash took place Saturday at Adrian's Custard and Beef on Grand Island Boulevard.

According to CROP Walk coordinator Paul Robinson, the event cleared $384, partially due to a generous check from one person for $200.

The money supports the annual hunger walk, which will take place Oct. 13 at Beaver Island State Park at 1 p.m.

A CROP Walk for Hunger organizational meeting will take place Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Grand Island Town Hall at 7 p.m.
