Ms. MWI International - "The Premiere Pageant for Women Over 35" - presents its international pageant Aug. 4-9 at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in downtown Niagara Falls. As part of the weeklong celebration, contestants will spend time in the Village of Lewiston on Monday. They will make a stop in the business district and pay a special visit to the residents at Our Lady of Peace nursing home.

The Ms. MWI International website states the organization exists to champion "today's woman," that person "who is comfortable in her own shoes; the woman who knows who she is and is not defined by labels." The mission, then, is to "promote, inspire and empower all women to develop and utilize their strengths and inner qualities. These are the foundations and qualities that each woman imprints on the world."

"Delegates are judged on interview, haute couture fashion wear, evening gown and fitness," the site continues. "The combination of all these elements, along with community service, makes the perfect recipe for MWI International royalty. The evening's competition will end with an on-stage (top five) question-(and-answer session), bringing the conclusion and highlight to the crowning moment of MWI International."

While in Niagara County, the contestants are slated to visit local shelters, spend time with sponsor businesses and dine with local dignitaries and elected officials.

The semifinal will take place 5 p.m. Wednesday at the casino, 310 Fourth St. The finals are set for Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
