JoAnn Getman named nursing director at Schoellkopf

JoAnn Getman, RN, a nurse administrator with extensive quality and clinical experience and long-term care expertise, was named director of nursing at the Schoellkopf Health Center. Her appointment is effective immediately.

Getman, who earned an associate's degree in nursing from Niagara County Community College, has been a registered professional nurse for nearly 20 years and has worked her entire career in skilled nursing facilities.

She most recently served as assistant administrator and director of nursing at Wyoming County Health Systems, where she supervised the nursing, therapy services, recreation, dietary, social services, housekeeping and maintenance departments.

Prior to that, she served 11 years as director of nursing at the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Rehab and Health Care Center in Lockport, where she established a quality assurance/performance improvement program and implemented initiatives that enhanced safety awareness, improved employee satisfaction scores and decreased employee turnover.

A certified nurse executive, Getman is a member of Professional Nurses Association of WNY, National Association Director of Nursing Administration/Long Term Care, American Association of Nurse Executives and the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators.

A service of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, the Schoellkopf Health Center is a 120-bed facility with all private rooms that provides short- and long-term care for people in need of nursing or rehabilitative services.
