'AGT' becomes the first competition reality series to allow viewers to vote for contestants on Twitter via tweet, beginning July 23
International chart-topping singer, songwriter and producer Labrinth will perform with three-time BRIT Award winner Emeli Sandé during the "America's Got Talent" results show (Wednesday, July 24, 9 p.m.), as fan voting determines the first four acts to move on to the semifinals - with a new twist. For the first time ever, a broadcast competition reality series will allow the audience to vote for contestants via tweet. Fans can vote for their favorite act using the hashtag #voteAGT followed by the act's name (one vote per Twitter handle per voting window). Twitter voting will join other voting methods, including toll-free phone, online via NBC.com, Facebook and Zeebox, and via the NBC mobile app.
Labrinth and Sandé will perform the multi-platinum worldwide smash single "Beneath Your Beautiful," which is currently climbing Billboard charts. "Beneath Your Beautiful" was written by Labrinth, Sandé and Mike Posner. The song hit the top spot in the UK and Ireland, went Top 10 in 20 countries and has almost 52 million VEVO views.
London-born Labrinth has already made a name for himself in the UK with a string of Top 5 singles from his debut album "Electronic Earth," as well as for his work writing and producing tracks for such artists as Rihanna, Usher, Posner, Tinie Tempah and Skylar Grey.
Sandé's debut album," Our Version of Events," has logged more consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of the U.K. album chart than any other debut album in chart history, surpassing even The Beatles' "Please Please Me," which spent 62 weeks in the Top 10. "Our Version of Events" was the best-selling album of 2012 in the U.K., where it is also the top-seller of 2013 to date.
Now in its eighth season, "America's Got Talent" stars celebrity judges Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howard Stern. With the talent search open to acts of all ages, "America's Got Talent" has brought the variety format back to the forefront of American culture by showcasing performers from across the country.
