Niagara County Fair: Farm-City Breakfast sponsored by Niagara County Community College

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County has announced the 2013 Niagara County Fair kickoff event, the Farm-City Breakfast, will be sponsored by Niagara County Community College.

On July 31, more than 600 people will enjoy a homestyle breakfast in the food tent at the Niagara County Fair located on the fair grounds at 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport. The festivities begin at 8 a.m. Tickets for the Farm-City Breakfast are available now in the CCE-Niagara County administrative building or the day of the breakfast for $7. The NCCC mascot will be at the breakfast with a free giveaway.

The guest speakers at the Farm-City Breakfast will be Julie Blackman and Lisa Tucker. Blackman is a native of Niagara County and sixth-generation worker at Blackman Homestead Farm in Cambria. Blackman is also the owner and operator of the Farmers & Artisans local foods market located in Snyder, and has served on the Niagara County Farm Bureau board and Niagara County Planning Board.

Tucker recently joined CCE -Niagara County as the new agriculture economic development and food systems educator. She will be focusing on projects and programming that further develops local and regional food systems. Tucker is the owner and publisher of Edible Buffalo magazine, and the co-founder of Field & Fork Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a thriving regional food system in Western New York through education and outreach.

The 2013 Niagara County Fair will run from July 31 through Aug. 4. This year, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County, Niagara's Choice Credit Union, Cornerstone CFCU and Niagara County Community College sponsor the event.
