Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for June 28, 2013

The Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to 159 calls from June 15 to 21. Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island.

Deputies responded to 15 burglary false alarm calls and one fire alarm during the dates of this report.

Saturday, June 15

•South State Parkway, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

•Stony Point Road, animal loose - A complainant stated that a dog was running loose in the neighborhood. The dog control officer was notified.

•Grand Island Boulevard, reckless operation - A complainant stated that several motorcycles were driving recklessly from the airport and she then saw them at a repair shop on Grand Island. Deputies located the drivers of the motorcycles and advised them.

•Bedell Road, welfare check - A complainant stated that a male subject was walking on the roadway and appeared to have been in some kind of fight. Deputies located the subject, who was just walking home from a local business.

•West River Road, loud music - A complainant stated that loud music was coming from a residence nearby. Deputies located the residence and advised the occupants.

•Love Road, loud music - A complainant stated that loud music was coming from a nearby business. Deputies spoke to the employees and advised them.

•Riverdale Drive, open burn complaint - A complainant stated that a nearby residence was having a large bonfire and sparks were going everywhere. Deputies located the residence and deemed the complaint to be unfounded as the fire was small and contained.

Sunday, June 16

•Long Road, suspicious person - A complainant stated that a male subject was walking down the road and appeared to be intoxicated. Deputies located the subject and were able to contact family members to pick him up.

•Love Road, larceny - A complainant stated that his bicycle was stolen several weeks ago, but he just noticed a subject riding around on it. The complainant was able to find the subject at a nearby address. Deputies spoke with the subject, who agreed to return the bicycle. The complainant was satisfied with his property being returned and stated that the subject now in possession of the bicycle was not the individual who stole it.

Monday, June 17

•Baseline Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Lakeview Terrace, disorderly person - A complainant stated that employees from a landscaping company were urinating on the apartment building while working on the premises. Deputies spoke to the employees and advised them.

•Whitehaven Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that a passing vehicle threw a water balloon at her vehicle and caused damage. The complainant did not witness the incident and did not have any further information on a suspect vehicle.

•Whitehaven Road, suspicious person with vehicle - A complainant stated that a suspicious vehicle was parked on the street and was occupied by several people who were possibly selling drugs. Deputies located the vehicle and spoke to the occupants, who were waiting for a family member to arrive home at a nearby residence.

•Bedell Road, warrant arrest - Deputies arrested a 30-year-old man from Grand Island after serving an arrest warrant at his home. The man was transported to the Erie County Holding Center.

•Bedell Road, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

Tuesday, June 18

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious person - Employees at a business stated that a female was at the front gate and acting strangely. Deputies located the female and advised her.

•Wallace Drive, animal complaint - A complainant stated that a young child was walking a large dog and the animal was dragging him around and chasing other people. Deputies determined the complaint to be unfounded.

•Baseline Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was speeding down the roadway. The complainant was unable to obtain the proper license plate information. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

•Beaver Island State Park, suspicious vehicle - Deputies located a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot in Beaver Island State Park during the late hours of the night. Deputies spoke to the occupants and advised them.

Wednesday, June 19

•Whitehaven Road, accident with injury - Deputies responded to a report of a three-car motor vehicle accident. Several persons were treated at the scene with seemingly not life-threatening injuries.

•Whitehaven Road, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent days, an unknown person or persons entered his boat while it was docked and did damage.

•Grand Island Boulevard, vehicle fire - Deputies assisted the Grand Island Fire Co. with a report of a vehicle on fire.

Thursday, June 20

•Whitehaven Road, warrant arrest - Deputies arrested a 19-year-old from Grand Island after serving a bench warrant at the subject's workplace. The subject was transported to the Town of Grand Island Court to appear in front of a judge.

•Crescent Road, animal loose - A complainant stated that a loose dog was in her yard. The dog control officer was notified.

•Huth Road, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated that a gold-colored sedan was driving up and down the street and seemed to be canvassing homes to possibly break into one. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

•Beaver Island State Park, disorderly person - A complainant stated that several subjects were making a lot of noise while at the marina during the late hours of the night. Deputies determined the complaint to be unfounded.

Friday, June 21

•Long Road, loud music - A complainant stated that loud music was coming from a nearby residence during the late hours of the night. Deputies spoke to the homeowner, who agreed to turn the music down.

•Stony Point Road, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime during recent days, someone stole various items from her unlocked vehicle.

•East River Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was swerving all over the roadway. The complainant was unable to get any license plate information. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

•Waterford Park, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that someone was pounding on his door during the late hours of the night and then ran off. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate any subjects. A Frisbee was left on the front porch of the complainant's residence, but no damage was observed.
