Wheatfield: Kislack announces candidacy

Michael Kislack has announced his candidacy for councilman in the Town of Wheatfield.

Born and raised in Wheatfield, Kislack, 44, is running in an effort to restore responsiveness to Town Hall and to put an end to the loss of services and tax increases.

Kislack is district manager of LKQ Corporation, a 24-year member of St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Co., past president of the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association, past trustee of the WNY Volunteer Firemen's Association and past president of the Wheatfield Business Association. He and his wife, Lisa, have three children and one grandchild.

"This Town Board seems to be content allowing politics to rule over the concerns and needs of our residents, when it comes to providing services and quality of life programs that cost us very little. They should be working to provide the needed tools to help make Wheatfield a better community," Kislack said. "They should be supporting term limits for elected officials and cutting the costly and unnecessary perks of public service by eliminating part-time health care for officials and ending the expensive full-time pensions for non full-time elected officials."

"We need to reduce the ever-increasing water rates, return our Youth Center to our Wheatfield children, at minimal or no cost, after all, we already own it," he said.

"As councilman, the people of Wheatfield have my commitment that we will always try to work together with all other officials to help improve Wheatfield and make it the proud town it was and should be again," he continued. "We already live in the highest taxed county, and pay the highest energy costs, wouldn't it be nice if we could work together to provide the needed services to our Wheatfield families, and reduce taxes whenever possible?"

"I plan on running a strong, positive campaign, and will go to each door in the Republican and minor party primaries, and discuss my plans with the residents of Wheatfield, and together, we will make Wheatfield a better place!" Kislack concluded.
