The Lewiston Lions Club Lion of the Year Award was presented to Lion Mary Reedy at the June awards dinner at The Lewiston Village Pub and Restaurant. Reedy was recognized for her participation in club events, taking that extra step in helping individuals during the holidays and bringing not only new ideas to the club, but a great amount of enthusiasm. She was also instrumental in helping in the monumental task of completing and adopting the club's constitution.
Lion's Club President Millie Gibbs passed the gavel to newly elected president Lion Ron Craft. Gibbs was recognized for stepping up to the plate when the club needed a secretary, and for her willingness to take on the office of the presidency.
Gibbs was credited for overseeing the adoption of the club's constitution and helping to create a scholarship to be presented to a deserving local high school student.
President-elect Craft credited Lewiston for having an abundance of volunteer groups and fundraisers for those in need, and individuals promoting the town and village. He also noted the above presents a challenge for a newly formed club to raise funds and gain new members, but said he and the club are up to the task.
Anyone willing to help with this challenge and/or interested in joining the Lions Club can call Craft at 716-818-0360 or visit www.lewistoncommunitylionsclub-ny.org and https://www.facebook.com/lewiston.lions.
