NBC Sports Group has named John Strong, formerly the lead voice for MLS' Portland Timbers, as the lead play-by-play voice for its Major League Soccer telecasts, beginning in July.

NBC Sports Group is also expanding the roles of three soccer analysts:

  • Premier League studio analysts Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe will also contribute to NBC Sports Group's MLS coverage as game analysts beginning in July.

  • In addition to MLS, analyst Kyle Martino will join NBC Sports Group's Premier League studio coverage working alongside studio host Rebecca Lowe.

"With the addition of John Strong to our team, we have the best American voice in soccer leading our MLS broadcasts," said Pierre Moossa, coordinating producer of NBC Sports Group. "By expanding the roles of Kyle, Robbie and Robbie, our expert commentators will be able to share their knowledge across all of our soccer coverage."

Strong will call MLS games alongside Martino with host Russ Thaler beginning Saturday, July 6, at 11 p.m. on NBC Sports Network with the Vancouver Whitecaps-Seattle Sounders Western Conference matchup.

"I'm thrilled to join NBC Sports Group's MLS team," said Strong. "To be a national voice of Major League Soccer has been my dream job for a long while. To do it with the iconic NBC Sports brand makes it perfect. My first game can't come soon enough!"
