Three Lewiston gardens have been selected for inclusion in the annual National Garden Festival sponsored, in part, by Visit Buffalo Niagara. In the past, gardens have been located in the Buffalo area, but with the formation of the Niagara Trail of gardens, nine Niagara County gardens will be showcased.

The three Lewiston Gardens are the Lewiston International Peace Garden (pictured), located at 476 Center St., which contains seasonal plantings, sculptures and an original water fountain; the garden of Debra Sauro, 305 Center St., a charming and eclectic garden surrounding her historic 1840 home; and the garden of Antoinette Gara, 495 Ridge St., which features sloping gardens and a winding stone garden path that complements her colorful plantings.

Other Niagara County Gardens include the Kenan Center, 433 Locust St., Lockport; the Kurbs Garden, 570 Locust St., Lockport; the DiMino Garden, 4521 Sharon Drive, Lockport; the Snediker Garden, 8443 Slayton Settlement Road, Gasport; and the Bracikowski Garden, 4229 Mohawk Parkway in the Town of Niagara.

The gardens will be open for viewing on five Thursdays: June 27, and July 4, 11, 18 and 25, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Admission is free. The program is also supported by the WNY Nursery & Landscape Association, the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy and the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens.
