Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, today passed legislation that will improve tourism by expanding the Niagara Wine Trail eastward to bring new wineries into the fold and draw new attention to the trail. The expansion will accompany a re-branding of the Niagara Wine Trail, which will be renamed the Niagara Wine Trail Ridge and the Niagara Wine Trail Lake.

"The Niagara Wine Trail has been a great attraction for tourists and a major boost to our numerous local wineries," Ceretto said. "By expanding eastward and re-branding the wine trail, we can attract tourists and new wineries while boosting those currently in existence. The wine trail has been great for the local economy of Niagara County, and this expansion can make it even better."

The wine industry is an important part of the Niagara County economy and has experienced significant growth recently. Wineries benefit the Western New York economy by producing wine and providing tourism opportunities. Ceretto has supported initiatives to promote wineries in Western New York in the past. He has secured $1 million for the Wine and Grape Foundation to accelerate the growth of wineries.
