The Lewiston Police Department this week announced it will be part of events to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics of New York.

One upcoming event is the Niagara Falls Torch Run, part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, taking place Tuesday, June 11, starting at noon at Prospect Point in Niagara Falls. The run will begin at Goat Island and travel down Fourth Street to Main Street and then Pine Avenue. It concludes with a Torch Run Appreciation Party at the John Duke Senior Center in Niagara Falls.

Pictured, from left, are LPD Justice Clerk Lisa Rizzo, LPD Officer Brandon Hall and LPD Chief of Police Chris Salada. Hall will participate in the run representing Lewiston Police. "I will be running on June 11 and will also at some point be running with the torch that day," Hall said. "I'm pretty honored, to be honest."
