Buffalo's skyline goes pink in celebration of Susan G. Komen Western New York Race for the Cure

Iskalo Development's Electric Tower will be illuminated "pink" Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8, in celebration of all Western New York Breast Cancer Survivors and the 13th anniversary of the Susan G. Komen Western New York Race for the Cure.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Komen WNY Race for the Cure, sponsored by WNY Ford Dealers and WGRZ - 2 On Your Side. The race takes place on Saturday, June 8, at 10 a.m., at the Delaware Park Rose Garden.

Pink lights will illuminate Buffalo's historic Electric Tower as a part of this annual event.

It's not too late to participate in this year's Komen WNY Race for the Cure. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Marcy Casino in Delaware Park. Donations to the Race for the Cure can be made atwww.komenwny.org. One can also pick up a registration form at all Western New York Tops locations.

Up to 75 percent of the net proceeds from the race remain in the eight counties of Western New York, funding community grant projects for unmet breast health and breast cancer needs. The remainder of the net proceeds (25 percent) will support the Komen National Research Grant Awards to fund scientific breast cancer research.

Komen for the Cure is the largest private funder of breast cancer research in the world.
