Shakespeare in Delaware Park offers 38th season of free theater

Shakespeare in Delaware Park's 38th season of free professional outdoor theater is just around the corner. This summer's season will begin June 20 when "Hamlet" takes the stage. Shakespeare's story of madness, sorrow, treachery and revenge is said to be the most powerful and influential tragedies in all of literature.

Shaun Sheley returns to Buffalo to take on the title role of the Prince along with SDP veterans Tim Newell, Tom Loughlin, Rebecca Elkin Young and Lisa Vitrano, with direction by SDP founder Saul Elkin.

"Measure For Measure" is the second offering of the summer and will open on July 25.

Shakespeare in Delaware Park reaches more than 40,000 audience members each season and is pleased to be celebrating 38incredible years of high-quality professional theater. SDP is proud to remain as one of the largest free outdoor Shakespeare festivals in the county.

"Hamlet" runs June 20 through July 14. "Measure For Measure" is on stage July 25 through Aug. 18. Performances are held every evening (except Mondays) at 7:30 p.m. Shows take place on Shakespeare Hill in Delaware Park, next to Hoyt Lake behind the Rose Garden, off Lincoln Parkway near the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
