Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, issued the following statement Wednesday concerning Gov. Cuomo's announced casino gaming legislation:

"This week I met with Gov. Cuomo and Seneca Nation President Barry E. Snyder regarding the future of casino gaming in Western New York. During the meetings, I repeatedly stressed to both parties that my top priority is to ensure the best possible solution for local communities, especially the City of Niagara Falls.

"Expanding casino gaming is not my top concern; my top priority is to reaffirm that Niagara Falls receives the tens of millions of dollars it is legally due as the host community for the Seneca casino. I believe there are several key provisions in (the) governor's casino gaming bill that will help to facilitate this much-needed and overdue outcome.

"While I am no more certain today than I was last month of what the future holds for casino gaming in Western New York, I am cautiously optimistic following this week's meetings that a positive outcome for the City of Niagara Falls is imminent."
