Amberleigh's 'Cutest Cupcake' event benefits Alzheimer's Associationby jmaloni
Amberleigh Retirement Community in Williamsville recently hosted a "Cutest Cupcake" bake-off among its residents and staff to benefit the Alzheimer's Association of WNY. Residents and staff alike were asked to bake cupcakes for the judges, which included owners and representatives from Caramici's Bistro and Bakery, DiCamillo Bakery, Fairy Cakes Cupcakery and Muscureil's Bakery.
The cupcakes were judged on appearance, taste and creativity.
In addition, each baker made additional cupcakes that were put on sale after the contest for everyone to purchase, with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY. Winners of the cutest cupcake contest included Karen Kunecki, activities director, who won first place for her coconut dream cupcakes; resident Margot Hamilton, who took second place for her "Nickel City" chocolate cupcakes; and Executive Director Margaret Kleinmann took third place for her "Candy Rules" cupcakes.
A total of 18 residents and staff participated in the cupcake competition, with more than $300 being raised for Alzheimer's research.
