Major changes make Lewiston supermarket's produce department one-of-a-kind

Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania, held a grand re-opening celebration Wednesday to mark the completion of a major renovation of the family-owned and operated Lewiston Tops Market at 906 Center St.

Renovations, which took place over the past few weeks, will provide customers with updated interior decor, an expanded product selection and major changes to the stores' produce department.

"In order to continue to provide the best possible service to the Lewiston community, this store got a major refresh and we couldn't be more excited," said owner and store manager Anthony DiMino. "We are proud that the store's new and improved features provide an expanded product selection in many of our departments, especially in our produce department."

Grand opening ceremonies featured the participation of DiMino, the Lewiston store team and local community leaders. Community donations were made to four local not-for-profit organizations: Care and Share Food Pantry, the Historical Association of Lewiston, the Lewiston Public Library and Lewiston No. 1 Volunteer Fire Co.

Specific changes to the supermarket include new décor throughout the entire store with a fresh, new feel. Lewiston shoppers will also enjoy major upgrades and expansions to the produce department, including a one-of-a-kind, 20-door produce case highlighting the natural beauty of the products, just in time for homegrown season. The cases are also eco-friendly and energy efficient.

Other improvements include upgrades to the deli and prepared foods departments. The store has also been retrofitted with energy efficient and eco-friendly LED lighting.
