Congressman Chris Collins, NY-27, issued the following statement regarding President Obama's budget proposal

"Two months past the legal deadline, President Obama released his FY 2014 budget proposal today. While I continue to hope that the president and Congress can find common ground to pass a budget and get our economy back on track, I am deeply troubled by what the president is proposing. His budget, which does not balance, includes $8.2 trillion in new debt, $1.1 trillion in new taxes and $964 billion in new spending above projected growth. It also includes a proposal to adjust Social Security benefits for current seniors that is both unfair and unacceptable."

"Americans deserve a federal budget that is balanced and sets the table to grow our economy instead of the already bloated Washington bureaucracy. Last month, the House passed a budget that balances in 10 years, protects Medicare for seniors, and gets our spending and debt under control. The president's tax and spend policies have not worked to rebuild our economy and they will not work now."
