Call for applications for Metro Mattress' 4th annual '50 Beds in 50 Days' program in Buffalo Region

Metro Mattress, upstate New York's largest mattress retailer, has launched its "50 Beds in 50 Days" charitable program in the Buffalo area. This is the fourth year of the program, which promises to donate mattresses to charitable organizations throughout the Buffalo area that provide services for children in need, individuals suffering from abuse, those who are ill and in need of care, veterans, and people who are homeless or underserved.

Metro Mattress will donate a total of 200 beds by the end of 2013. Over the past three years, Metro Mattress has donated 150 beds to 59 charitable organizations in Buffalo.

In addition to the Buffalo area, the company's "50 Beds in 50 Days" program extends across upstate New York, with mattress donations being made to deserving organizations throughout the Syracuse/Southern Tier, Rochester, and Albany/Mohawk Valley regions. Across New York state, the program has donated 600 beds in three years to more than 200 nonprofit organizations.

To qualify for the "50 Beds in 50 Days" program, 501(c)(3) organizations in the Buffalo region must complete a short application form at http://www.metromattress.com/50beds50days. Applications will be accepted beginning April 1 and must be postmarked by May 24 to be eligible.

"Year after year, Metro Mattress has received an overwhelming response from the community for bed donations through our '50 Beds in 50 Days' program," said David Shiroff, president and CEO of Metro Mattress. "We are looking forward to kicking off another year of giving back and helping local organizations that do so much for our community."

In 2012, 12 organizations in the Buffalo region were the recipients of the program's mattresses, including Catholic Charities Immigration & Refugee Assistance Program, Buffalo; Community Action Organization of Erie County Inc., Buffalo; Family Promise of Western New York, Buffalo; Gateway-Longview Inc., Buffalo; Heritage Christian Services Inc., North Tonawanda;New Directions Youth and Family Services Inc., Buffalo; New Testament Revival Cathedral Inc., Buffalo; Saint Amelia Parish, Tonawanda; St. John's Outreach, Lockport; Society of St. Vincent de Paul-St. Lawrence Campus, Buffalo; Vive Inc., Buffalo; and Western New York Veterans Housing Coalition Inc., Buffalo.

Metro Mattress, the Syracuse-based retailer, has become a local institution in several upstate New York markets, including Syracuse/Central New York (12 stores), Rochester (11 stores), Buffalo (eight stores), Albany (10 stores), Utica/Rome (three stores), and the Southern Tier (three stores).
