Founders of Grand Island's Robert G. Hoch Winter Memory Walk donated a check for $10,114 to the Hospice Foundation of Western New York on March 19. The money was raised from the third annual walk, which drew between 75 to 80 participants, according to co-founder Robin Hoch, who with her brother Tim run the event in memory of their late father. The money raised at the 2013 walk pushed the grand total to $22,265 for the three years of the fundraiser's existence.

The walk was held Feb. 23 and took participants from Bush Road to the Fix Road overlook and back. Following the walk, an after-party at the Riverstone Grill netted more than $4,000. Wudyka said the money is unrestricted and will support care for the more than 750 patients, from pediatric to elderly, in Western New York. Money raised stays within the local community, Wudyka said.
