The Kelly family of Grand Island received the Grand Island Rotary Club's Vocational Service Award at a meeting Feb. 27 at the Buffalo Launch Club.

The Kellys' own Kelly's Country Store celebrated a 50th anniversary last year.

The Vocational Service Award is presented to a non-Rotarian who has exemplified outstanding professional achievement and high ethical standards. In making the award, the Rotary noted that through the Kellys' "strong work ethic, business choices, community service and their genuine affection for people and this community, they have made Grand Island a better place to live."

Rotary Interim Secretary Amber Storr, pictured at right, standing, presented the award to Kelly family members, seated from left, Sean Kelly, Amanda Diamond and Deanna Kelly. Deanna is the daughter-in-law of Kelly's Country Store founder Walt Kelly and wife of Mike Kelly, Sean runs the store (with brother Kevin) and Diamond runs their Facebook page and a Twitter account.
