'Tour de Cure': 'Buffalo Rider Rally' for American Diabetes Association cycling event

Share stories with team members from past rides, welcome first-time riders and learn more about how your miles in the saddle save lives and help find a cure for diabetes

WHAT: "Buffalo Rider Rally" for the 22nd annual American Diabetes Association "Tour de Cure." This is a gathering of veteran and newbie riders to gear up their training and fundraising efforts this year's tour, which will take place June 8. More than 80 team leaders and cyclists will meet and greet, hear inspirational stories on people living and riding with diabetes, and learn the latest details on the ADA's longest-running cycling event.

In 2012, Tour de Cure attracted 970 riders, raising more than $370,000.

WHEN &WHERE: Thursday, March 7, 5:30 p.m., at Milos Restaurant (formerly The Little White House), 5877 Main St., Williamsville.

WHO: Peter Knappan, director, ADA Buffalo-Rochester Chapter - year in review; Dennis Witt, planning committee chair and team captain - 2013 update and review and top team/top rider awards; Dru Cary, long-time rider and team captain, will share her family's story of diabetes and why she rides. Several other key ADA representatives and tour riders also will be on hand.
