Electronics recycling fundraiser benefits Camp Good Days

Sunnking Inc., in partnership with Camp Good Days, has created a program called "E-Scrap 4 Camp," which will facilitate recycling old electronics from participating locations to generate funds for Camp Good Days and Special Times. 2013 marks the third year for the program, but it is the first time that fundraising efforts will be expanded to allow participation from Rochester-area businesses and organizations. Since its inception in 2011, E-Scrap 4 Camp has recycled 569,562 lbs. of electronics and raised $18,000.

For the month of April, Sunnking will provide free electronics recycling supplies and pick-ups at participating schools, businesses, non-profits and other organizations in the Buffalo and Rochester area. Organizations are encouraged to collect old and unwanted electronics from employees, friends and family. Sunnking will donate money to Camp Good Days for every pound of electronics recycled.

To register your organization, visit www.sunnking.com/escrap-4-camp. The deadline to sign up is March 15.

There will be an electronics recycling kickoff event open to the public on March 29 (Good Friday) in both Rochester and Buffalo. Residents can drop off electronics for recycling at no cost, and the Sunnking staff/volunteers will be available to unload vehicles. Event locations and times can be found by visiting www.sunnking.com/events. All electronics recycled at these events will also help generate funds for Camp Good Days and Special Times.

"We have been very fortunate to have such outstanding support from Sunnking," said Lisa Donato Booz, regional director of Camp Good Days in Buffalo. "Their funds have helped us continue to provide fun and laughter for many children dealing with cancer, which we are beyond grateful for. It is always so inspiring to see businesses and individuals come together to support our kids - not to mention we are safely recycling old electronics for free. It really is a great opportunity for both the Buffalo and Rochester community."

"It's amazing to see how the program has grown in such a short amount of time," said Sunnking's Marketing and Programs Manager Zachary Hussion. "With the expansion into the Rochester area, we are expecting to more than double the volume of electronics recycled compared to the first year of the program. It's a good feeling for everyone involved. Saving the environment and raising funds for a good cause is a win-win in my book."

Here's how it works:

•Each participating location will have the opportunity to collect electronics from employees, friends and family for one week during the month of April.

•Packaging supplies will be provided by Sunnking at no cost.

•Electronics will be picked up from each location and recycled at no cost.

•Sunnking will track and record the net weight of electronics recycled from each participating location and will provide a certificate of recycling and destruction.

•At the end of the program, Sunnking will donate money to Camp Good Days for every pound of electronics recycled.

•The participating location with the highest volume of materials collected will win $500 worth of refurbished computer equipment from Sunnking.
