Janet E. (Snyder) Hobba, 80, of Grand Island, went to be with her Lord and Savior in eternal rest on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, following a long illness.

Janet was born one of 11 children on Jan. 8, 1933, in Osceola Mills, Pa., of Ellen Catherine (Shoaf) Snyder and Jeffrey David Snyder.

Janet was married to the late Robert E. Hobba, also of Osceola Mills, moving first to the Town of Niagara and then Grand Island, where she resided for 45 years.

She is survived by her children, the late David E. (Tonza), Mary Ellen (Peter) Frey, Bob (Lisa) and Janice (Tim) Glose; nine grandchildren, whom she loved and enjoyed: Jennifer Frey, Tayler Hobba, David Hobba, Jordan Hobba, Courtney Hobba, Emily Glose, Robert Hobba, Jack Glose and Sara Glose. She is also survived by siblings Blanche Martin of Florida and Bob (Mary) Snyder, also of Florida. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including local nieces Kay (Alan) Beyea and Judy (Bill) Johnston.

Janet was employed at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center as a ward clerk, Bells Supermarkets as a deli clerk, and later retired from the Niagara Falls Country Club, where she was a server at the Half-Way House of the golf course.

Janet accepted the Lord as her personal savior many years ago, being baptized at the Odosagih Bible Conference, and was active in her faith through regular church attendance at Bible Presbyterian Church of Grand Island, Whitehaven Road Baptist Church of Grand Island, and most recently Kenmore Alliance Church. She enjoyed spending her summers at Odosagih Bible Conference on Lime Lake, N.Y. Janet lived her faith daily in her activities as she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, listen to a friend who needed to talk or offer assistance on many volunteer organizations. Janet was active in many volunteer organizations, ushering with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, The Kavinoky Theater, The Musicalfare Theater, Shea's Performing Arts Center and particularly Artpark & Company. Janet was a light shining bright for the Lord during her time on this Earth. She will be greatly missed by many who will feel her absence from their life.

Family will be present at the Pacer Funeral Home, 2275 George Urban Blvd., Depew, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013. A celebration of Janet's and her son David's life will be held on Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at The Chapel at CrossPoint, 500 Cross Point Parkway, Getzville, with the Rev. Abram Dueck officiating. Private family burial is planned with interment at Acacia Park in North Tonawanda. Flowers are declined in lieu of donations to Odosagih Bible Conference, 3204 Hazelmere Ave., Machias, NY 14101. Arrangements were made by the Kaiser Funeral Home, Grand Island.
