Grand Island Memorial Library Calendar of Events

The Grand Island Memorial Library, 1715 Bedell Road, has library hours of operation on Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 1 to 9 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays.

•Saturday, March 2 - The library will celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday at 2 p.m. Meet at the library for a family movie afternoon and birthday cake. All ages are welcome, however all children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.

•The library will present a series of adult computer classes.

√ Saturday, Feb. 23 - Family history research (for advanced computer users) will meet from 10 a.m. to noon to work with Ancestry Database.

√ Saturday, March 2 - Introduction to Facebook (for advanced computer users) will meet from 10 a.m. to noon.

√ Saturday, March 9 - Microsoft Excel (basic) will meet from 10 a.m. to noon for an introduction to spreadsheets,

√ Saturday, March 16 - eBooks and eReaders, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For advanced computer users, this course is an introduction to downloading eBooks from the library's website. The focus will be on Nook, Kindle and iPad. Students are encouraged to bring their own reader devices, if applicable.

Space is limited and registration is required. Please specify which session you prefer. These programs are for adults only. A copy of the curriculum for each class is available at the library.

•A winter session of the preschool story hour - featuring stories, songs and crafts for children 3 to 5 years of age - will be held on Monday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Registration is required. Children must be 3 years old by Jan. 28.

•A winter session of "Toddler Time Lapsit" - featuring stories, songs and finger plays for children 18 months to 3 years of age - will be held on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Registration is required. Children must be 18 months old by Jan. 30.
