Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Feb. 14, 2013

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between Feb. 5 and 10. During that time period, patrols answered 135 calls.

Tuesday, Feb. 5

•Recovery Road, property check. Patrol conducted a property check in regards to recent car break-ins. All appeared OK.

•Military and Saunders Settlement roads, aid assist. Patrol assisted state police with a four-vehicle injury accident.

Wednesday, Feb. 6

•9800 block of Lockport Road, assist citizen. Patrol spoke with school officials and advised them of proper handling methods for a Level 1 sex offender who was dropping his child off at the school on a regular basis.

•700 block of Sunnyside Drive, unattended death. A caller reported that he checked on a neighbor and found the door partially open, and the neighbor folded over in front of the sink with blood near his face. Due to the age of the victim and allegations of drug abuse, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office was notified. Residence appeared to be in order with money in plain view and expensive electronics throughout the house and no signs of foul play.

•2100 block of Maple Avenue, false alarm. Patrol responded for an alarm set off by a ceiling motion detector. Alarm company cancelled the call stating there are critters in the building.

Thursday, Feb. 7

•3000 block of Norman Street, EMS. A woman was taken to Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center with a staph infection. Patrol found numerous child protective issues in the home and four children were released to relatives.

•I-190, aid assist. Patrol assisted state police near the Grand Island Bridge attempting to locate a possible suicidal subject.

•Military Road, reckless driving. Patrol checked a report of a white Ford Explorer all over the road northbound on Military Road from Packard Road. Driver was located with her vehicle stuck in the front yard of her own residence on Divide Road. She said she had recently purchased the truck and was unfamiliar with proper vehicle operation in snowy conditions.

Friday, Feb. 8

•600 block of C Street, check 911 call. Patrol responded to a call from a 7-year-old stating she was alone. Patrol found mother outside shoveling snow.

•1900, 1500, 2400 and 3000 blocks of Military Road, Service Road, Military and Lockport roads, Military and Porter roads, Packard Road, Fashion Outlet Boulevard, snow calls. Patrols responded to nine calls for accidents, disabled vehicles and vehicles stuck due to the weather, including one snowplow/vehicle accident in the mall parking lot.

Saturday, Feb. 9

•8500 block of Porter Road, animal complaint. Complainant reported that a large black dog had her trapped in the laundry room.

•6500 block of Ralph Court, domestic. An verbal argument between a 19-year-old and her mother over use of her mother's car ended up with the daughter saying her mother's boyfriend grabbed her by the throat and him saying she had threatened him with a knife.

•Military Road, traffic tickets. Driver issued tickets for not wearing a seatbelt and using a cell phone while driving.

Sunday, Feb. 10

•Military Road, traffic tickets. Driver observed ignoring a no left turn sign while exiting a plaza. She complained that she is careful when she does it. She also could not provide proof of insurance.

•Expressway Village, EMS. Patrol responded for two calls, one for a woman who was feeling weak and fell to the floor; another for a woman who had fallen in her bathroom and her neighbor heard her yelling for help. Rural Metro Ambulance assisted both, and both refused medical treatment.
