Congressman and small businessman Chris Collins, NY-27, has joined the newly formed bipartisan small business caucus. The group of 21 members of the House of Representatives is committed to making Washington work for small business.

"The success of small business is tied directly to the success of our economy," said Collins. "Small businesses employ about half of all American private sector workers. Right now, the small business community feels like Washington is working against them with growing economic uncertainty, increasing regulations and higher taxes."

The caucus' goals include:

•Raising awareness of issues that most impact small businesses, including access to capital, access to technology, regulation and taxation, and exploring solutions to encourage entrepreneurship and small business growth;

•Providing a forum for candid conversation with small business owners to gather recommendations on what issues and priorities Congress should focus on to assist small businesses;

•Advancing and promoting small business initiatives that support local commerce and strengthen communities;

•Providing information and education to help members of Congress arrange job fairs, business roundtables, trade expos and other events in their districts that promote small business growth and encourage job creation.
