Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Jan. 24, 2013

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between Jan. 15 and 21. During that time period, patrols answered 125 calls.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

•4700 block of Military Road, larceny. A 23-year-old Fox Avenue man was charged with two counts of petit larceny after he admitted he took $133 and $446 on two occasions from a business where he worked. He said his father is being evicted and they needed the money to help pay rent.

•Ashwood Drive, property check. Patrol checked area for eggers in response to recent vandalism to vehicles in the area.

Wednesday, Jan. 16

•4500 block of Witmer Road, vandalism. Complainant reported that sometime overnight someone damaged and knocked down a "no parking" sign in his business lot.

•1600 block of Military Road, fraud. Complainant reported an employee took his credit card and made two fraudulent purchases at a shoe store, totaling $534.84. Patrol to seek warrant for second-degree identity theft and fourth degree grand larceny.

•3600 block of Crestview Drive, larceny. Complainant reported that overnight someone entered his vehicle and stole his GPS unit.

Thursday, Jan. 17

•East Britton Drive, ATV problem. Complainant reported an ATV rider driving in a reckless manner. Patrol unable to locate.

Friday, Jan. 18

•1500 block of Military Road, larceny. A 65-year-old 82nd Street man was arrested for shoplifting after he was seen taking items from a grocery store, including stuffed mushrooms, shrimp and greeting cards.

•1900 block of Military Road, larceny. An investigation is continuing on an incident at a jewelry store in the mall where a man shoplifted a diamond ring valued at $1,899. Two women and a man were in the store asking about rings and while the clerk was distracted another man came in, reached inside the case, took the ring and fled.

•8200 block of Richmond Ave., domestic. A husband and wife were arguing about their children. Both accused the other of throwing the pizza first.

Saturday, Jan. 19

•8300 block of Third Avenue, assist fire department. Patrol called to assist the fire department in investigating a smell in the area. It was determined the odor was coming from the dump.

•Military Road, traffic tickets. A 54-year-old Ontario Avenue man was arrested after he was seen following a vehicle too closely on Military Road, was found to have an expired registration and a suspended license for child support complaints, and was seen parking in a handicapped spot using someone else's handicapped tag.

Sunday, Jan. 20

•3000 block, 2500 block and 2000 block of Military Road, and 8400 block of Porter Road, 1400 block of Elderberry Place, false alarms. Patrol responded to two business alarms. In the first incident, a side door was open, but a K-9 search revealed that everything was secure. The last incident occurred at a residence.

•8200 block of Lockport Road, domestic. Complainant said her daughter was out of control and acting irrationally, demanding that she be given her recently purchased .22 caliber rifle and threatening suicide. The woman was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for evaluation, where she became hostile, assaulted two nurses and was arrested by Niagara Falls Police.

Monday, Jan. 21

•4700 block of Garlow Road, vandalism. Complainant reported someone smashed her driver's side window and windshield on her 2009 Chevy.
