EMS Niagara Conference set for Jan. 26

Niagara University will host the first EMS Niagara Conference on Saturday, Jan. 26. The conference provides advanced training for emergency medical service professionals and volunteers. Participants will receive six community medical education credits.

The conference will be held in Dunleavy Hall. It begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m. Conference presenters include:

•Lloyd Brown, M.D., chief of emergency medicine at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, and chairman of the Mount St. Mary's pre-hospital improvement committee;

•Stephanie A. Cole, general counsel, president's office, Niagara University;

•Robert Kasper, education coordinator, Rural Metro Medical Services;

•John C. Malinchock, EMT-P, pre-hospital programs EMS coordinator at Niagara University, and vice chairman, Big Lakes REMSCO;

•James Mihalko, senior EMS care representative, New York State Department of Health;

•Benjamin Rueda, M.D., cardiologist, head of cardiology at Mount St. Mary's Hospital; and

•Jonathan Schultz, fire coordinator and director of emergency services, Niagara County.

Conference topics will include: EMS operations, respiratory therapy, chest pain and STEMI recognition, dos and don'ts of social media, ambulance operations, and pre-hospital care quality improvement.
