Two Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Transportation Security Administration-certified Explosive Detection K-9 teams will assist with the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C. At the request of the Department of Homeland Security, David A. Capretto and Gino and Robert L. Bove and Cora will be working with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and the District of Columbia, Metro Transit Police Department. They are two of 12 K-9 teams from across the country that will be assisting in providing additional security during inauguration proceedings.

This is the second time the NFTA Police has sent a K-9 team to the inauguration. In 2008, one team was deployed. Capretto and Gino, shown at left, have worked work in every location where the NFTA Police patrol. Bove and Cora, shown at right, patrol Metro Rail stations, bus terminals and all other NFTA mass transit facilities in Erie and Niagara counties, as well as responding to calls of unattended items or suspicious packages within the Metro system. They also assist other law enforcement agencies on request and assist other transit police K-9 units at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport and the Niagara Falls International Airport.
